Here at Paboco we make concepts into reality. Now presenting Absolut Paper. The Absolut Company paper bottle, made real by us at Paboco and possible by our partnerships.
The prototype today consists of 57% paper and 43% recycled plastic barrier and can withstand the pressure from CO2. The bottle uses FSC sustainably sourced paper. Together with the BillerudKorsnäs team we have developed a pulp formula with a strong fiber network that keeps the full bottle strength allowing us to apply a thin barrier layer to prevent water vapor and oxygen transmission. Our main research area and focus is on barrier development looking to always improve both from a sustainability and functional perspective. The first 2000 bottles for Absolut, which will be used for testing, are an important step in advancing us on the journey toward a scalable, recyclable and – in time – fully bio based solution.
“This is the result of more than a year of collaboration, with an outstanding project team from Paboco and The Absolut Company. Getting these bottles into testing and one milestone step closer to consumers, demonstrates the power of co-development and the joint drive to create lasting, sustainable, industry change.” says Michael Michelsen
